What is Pdo Thread Lift?

In about one hour, our trained DR. can provide a non-surgical skin tightening and facelift treatment that rejuvenates, regenerates, and improves the structure of the face using special threads made of a material called polydioxanone (PDO). This special thread has been used in medicine mainly in surgery as sutures, for over 35 years.  They have a very long safety record.

What can I expect during treatment?

Before treatment starts, we will apply a topical numbing cream and local anesthetic to the treatment site. The needle used to deliver the local anesthetic is so fine, it causes minimal pain. Once the anesthetic has taken effect, the PDO thread are inserted via blunt tip meddle, called cannulas. After placement into the appropriate layer of the skin, the PDO thread act as anchors as the skin is lifted upwards. Lastly, the access threads are cut off, a band aid is placed over the insertion site and the procedure is completed.

The Results:

Results are visible immediately after the treatment. you will notice instant skin lifting.  As the reservable threads dissolve (in 2-3 months), even more dramatic results are seen.
This procedure results in instant skin tightening. The threads promote collagen production and neovascularization to renew your skin at the cellular level. All of this works together to give you enhanced skin texture, fewer lines and wrinkles, and more elastic skin.

Although the effects from a thread lift will be temporary and not as dramatic as a facelift, improvement in the appearance of and wrinkles, as well as skin sagging, can be seen gradually as the threads stimulate natural collagen and elastin production.

Thread lifts have become a minimally invasive alternative to the facelift for patients who are not ready to undergo more aggressive surgical treatment options.

Recovery time?

Recovery time after a PDO thread lift is minimal. Most patients can return to work and most normal activity (except for exercise) 1-2 days after the procedure with only minor discomfort. It is common for patients to experience swelling and bruising which typically resolves within 1 week.

The final results of your PDO thread lift will be seen within 2-3 months of your treatment as collagen remodeling occurs. Thread lifts will improve sagging skin for up to two years and can be repeated as needed for lifting jowls, improving nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and lifting brows.

Having a thread lifting procedure will decrease the amount of filler needed to replace volume loss as well.
